From November 6-9, 2024, Anka Youth Association hosted “#DigitalBridges: Fostering Intercultural Dialogue through Responsible Digital Citizenship,” a transformative event bringing together young leaders, educators, and digital experts from across Europe. Organized within the framework of the Erasmus+ KA210-YOU project “EthiTech,” and  Anna Lindh Foundation #ALFHandsOn 6th Edition, the initiative provided a unique platform for fostering responsible digital engagement and cross-cultural collaboration.

A Collaborative International Effort

The event was coordinated by the Anka Youth Association (Türkiye), in collaboration with Jugendvision e.V. (Germany) and Youth Competency Development Association (Romania). The diverse expertise of these organizations ensured a holistic approach to digital literacy, ethical online behavior, and intercultural dialogue, equipping participants with the skills to navigate the digital world responsibly.

Key Highlights of the Event

The four-day program featured interactive workshops, cultural exchanges, and project-based learning opportunities. Participants engaged in thought-provoking discussions and practical exercises centered on:

  • Digital Ethics and Online Safety – Experts from Germany and Romania led sessions on cyber awareness, responsible social media use, and combating misinformation.
  • Promoting Social Inclusion through Digital Tools – Attendees explored innovative ways to use digital platforms for advocacy, cultural expression, and bridging societal divides.
  • Intercultural Exchange and Project Development – Young leaders collaborated in multinational teams to create digital projects that reflect the principles of ethical online engagement and mutual respect.

Impact and Future Prospects

The event successfully strengthened the participants’ digital citizenship skills while promoting cross-border cooperation. Attendees departed with not only enhanced digital competencies but also meaningful international connections, positioning them as ambassadors for intercultural dialogue in the digital sphere.

Anka Youth Association President and Project Manager, Firdes Hasır, emphasized the importance of such initiatives: “In today’s interconnected world, responsible digital engagement is crucial. This event empowered young people to become informed and ethical digital citizens while embracing cultural diversity.”

With enthusiastic feedback and strong commitments from participants and partner organizations, “#DigitalBridges” marks the beginning of more collaborative efforts in promoting digital literacy and cross-cultural understanding. Plans are already in motion to expand the initiative, ensuring its sustainability and broader impact across Europe.
