About The Project:
The “Bridge Across the Ocean” project aims to establish a sustainable network of organizations that collaboratively develop and implement high-quality projects for young people, benefiting individuals, communities, and society as a whole.
Objectives
- Enhance the competencies of youth workers from 10 different countries to work internationally and across various cultural backgrounds.
- Foster the exchange of best practices and innovative ideas for engaging young people, especially those with fewer opportunities, to become active citizens.
- Raise awareness about the importance of needs assessment for youth projects and introduce various methods for conducting these assessments.
- Develop a stable network of partners that continuously support and assist each other.
- Promote Erasmus+ projects and mobilities within the local community in Curaçao.
- Create strategic partnerships and activities based on needs assessments conducted during the mobility activity.
Planned Activities
The project includes a week-long Partnership Building Activity (PBA) in Curaçao, bringing together 27 youth workers from Aruba, Croatia, Curaçao, Finland, Greece, Germany, Romania, North Macedonia, and Turkey.
Participant Profile
- Youth workers or NGO leaders/members with the authority to establish new partnerships and actively involved in youth work at local or international levels.
- Participants must be 18+, residents of participating countries, proficient in English, and committed to active participation and follow-up on the project, especially in working with youth with fewer opportunities.
Expected Results and Impact
The project aims to enhance the skills and competencies of youth workers and strengthen organizational cooperation, resulting in:
- Improved understanding and implementation of needs assessments for target groups.
- Practical experience in conducting needs assessments.
- Insight into best practices from 10 countries, positively impacting local communities.
- Formation of bonds for future cooperation with NGOs from Curaçao.
- Increased awareness of the needs of young people in Curaçao and understanding of active youth work actors in the region.
- Acquisition of tools for reflection and self-assessment for future use in youth work.
The project will also create new partnerships aiming for high-quality projects and opportunities for young people, raising quality standards across Europe and providing more opportunities for young people from OCTs/OCRs.
Participant Details
- Age and Residency: Participants must be 18+ and residents of Türkiye.
- Language Proficiency: A good command of English is essential for effective communication and participation.
- Commitment: Participants must be dedicated to actively participating in the activity and willing to follow up on the project through youth work related to the project’s theme, especially focusing on youth with fewer opportunities.
- Preparatory Tasks: Participants should be prepared to carry out any preparatory tasks assigned by the organizers.
- Follow-up Activities: Participants should be willing to engage in follow-up activities via active youth work, ideally in collaboration with their sending/partner organization.
- Participants should be individuals actively involved in youth work, whether at the local or international level.
Seminar Details
- Dates: 01.09 – 07.09 (01.09 arrival day, 07.09 departure day)
- The flight tickets will be bought by the coordinator organisation.
- Accommodation: The Freedom Hotel (link)
- Participants have the option to extend their stay until 11.09.2024 at their own cost, with assistance for transport.
- Visa costs will be paid.
